Although I have been cruising this board for a while, this is my first post.

I recently bought some #550 Cord from US Calvary. When it arrived I examined the interior to see if it was real. That leads me to my first question: The cord I received has eight (8) inner strands that are made up of two (2) twisted cords while the GI Issue is of course seven (7) strands made up of three (3) twisted cords. So, is the stuff I got any good?

Seconds question: Where is the best place to get the "Good Stuff", the true GI Issue #550 Cord, Type III?

I recommend http://www.imsplus.com/ims.html. They carry the good 7-strand stuff. The cord you bought sounds like 650 cord, which works fine, but is not nearly as flexible or easy to work with. I used to purchase from IMS Plus and never had any problems with them. Now that I have to buy thousands of feet of the stuff for my business, I buy in bulk from the manufacturer. Hope this helps.
