Got this NWS alert from my DD2 in Anchorage. Now normally I would not associate the projected wind chill temps with the word "brisk". But, hey, it's Alaska:
BRISK CONDITIONS TO ENVELOP SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA...
AN ARCTIC AIRMASS OVER NORTHERN ALASKA IS BEGINNING TO MOVE TOWARDS
THE MATANUSKA VALLEY AND ANCHORAGE BOWL WHICH WILL RESULT IN A MODEST
BLAST OF COLD TEMPERATURES. A STRENGTHENING PRESSURE GRADIENT BETWEEN
INLAND HIGH PRESSURE AND A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THAT DEVELOPS OVER THE
NORTHERN GULF WILL BEGIN TO PRODUCE GUSTY WINDS ACROSS THE REGION BY
THIS EVENING. THIS COUPLED WITH THE COLD AIRMASS WILL CREATE WIND
CHILLS OF 15 TO 30 DEGREES BELOW ZERO ACROSS THE ANCHORAGE BOWL AND
MATANUSKA VALLEY BEFORE WINDS BEGIN TO DIMINISH ON THURSDAY.

I guess that is pretty mild for Alaska. The coldest
i have ever been was a -80 wind chill on Denali, and that was in June. Definitely more than brisk....

For us up here, it's just another day in Paradise!  (Actually, it is a bit cooler than normal for November, but not that unusual.)

For us up here, it's just another day in Paradise! (Actually, it is a bit cooler than normal for November, but not that unusual.) Understood, but around here brisk refers to maybe 40's. Have to look up the NWS definitions of their descriptors.

Have to look up the NWS definitions of their descriptors. the NWS definition defines "brisk" in terms of wind speed, not temperature: Brisk 15 to 25 mph winds

After a mild, extended fall, it's time to pay the piper.
Our official forecast for tonight (temps in Celsius):
"Tonight: Clear. Becoming partly cloudy after midnight. Wind southeast 20 km/h becoming light late this evening. Low minus 31. Wind chill minus 39."
I believe we call that "crisp."
