The article itself might be more of a "survivalist" thing, but I think it points out our vulnerability to a so-called "Digital Pearl Harbor". In the urban environment it might help you realize how much we rely on computers, and computerized infrastructure (i.e. power systems, traffic lights, ATM's, etc.). This article does mention the concept of "complex systems fail in complex ways", a la Shuttle Columbia, and the northeast Blackout.
