I am in the Middle East and we have lots of Chinese stuff in the market. Some are good by my standards ( whatever they are ) and have held up for urban EDC ( normal use, opening boxes ..etc. ) They don't stay sharp for months, of course, but I have yet to have a multitool fall to pieces, or a knife break in half as I read sometimes.
Most ( near all ) my stuff is cheap. And I intend to keep it this way as long as I have not seen a major event in my life that changes my mind.
The other day I visited a new hyper store, and saw some multitools from Leatherman ( Wave, Blast ..etc. ) as well as the chinese ones ( John Benzen - Chicago tools ). The price ratio between Leatherman and Chinese MTs is around 7:1
OK, prepare your flame thrower , LOL :
I prefer to buy 7 J Benzens, than 1 Leatherman.
Ouch! ouch! ouch !
LOL
My folding knives are generally in the $3-6 price range , and they are OK for occasional use of opening boxes , scratching extra glue or removing labels ..etc. . But didn't break any of them so far.
