What we don't know is what she saw in the moment. She may have realized there was an opportunity, and she could get in and back out with little risk. She may have perceived an acceptable risk and an opportunity to act. Was she burned at all?

OTOH, she could have sat back and done the math as the variables changed, until the opportunity was gone. She could have stayed on the road and said, "Sucks to be him, not my problem". A large segment of our society would have done just that.

You are right.
And many factors may affect the decision making.

When I was young , I used to drive my SEDAN to remote areas and camp for a day or two. If I got stuck, there was no one to help me. A few decades later, I was driving my 4x4 in some dirt road (firm enough for 2wd) and when I was faced with a patch of sand that required 4x4, I turned around.

I wasn't going to go through it with my family at sunset where no one was around !!!

Maybe sometimes we need bit of "foolishness" is needed besides all these tonnes of "wisdom".

Yep, then again she may have had no idea how dangerous the situation actually was. The truck driver may have been the recipient of beginners luck.

I prefer to think she saw an opportunity and took the initiative. Fortune favors the bold.

I didn't see that anyone was burned, not even the truck driver.
