I was just looking over HikinJim's thread and fuel links.

The Klean-Strip Denatured Alcohol only comes in a quart container, as far as I've seen.

I would like to decant some of it into a sturdy, FLAT, preferably plastic, container of a smaller size, like 8-oz.

What would be a good container, one that would be guaranteed not to leak? Flat is better than round for my kits. A container that has carried another product would be do-able, too.

I have a 2006 Suburban that has a hiding place* under the middle row of seats, but the newer ones have eliminated all the hiding places that mine have, and since mine has 364,000 miles on it, I have the feeling that they will be discarding it soon, and I'll have to deal with the newer, more poorly-designed ones (smiley w/tongue sticking out).

My crews' gear takes up all of the luggage compartment, and we aren't supposed to have any of our own gear loose inside, where it could fly around in an accident.

I know it doesn't meet your consideration of being flat. But I have stored my Denatured Alcohol in cheap 16 oz plastic water bottles. Its not my usual carry for camping and day hikes but I've done it and stored it that way. I've also used the small rounder 8 oz plastic water/apple juice bottles (again, i know you're looking at flat) b/c they are a little thicker plastic.

Normally I use a 20oz MSR bottle w/ a cap has a independent little pour spout on it that you can rotate to open without unscrewing the entire cap. It helps me identify the fuel bottle by feel in the dark or deep in my pack.

I like plastic since it's light. I've seen the Nalgene one that AFLM linked to at REI. It looks decent.

Problem with a flask with alcohol is that people might think you were drinking the alcohol. I can just see a cop pulling you over: "Sure, that was for your stove, lady. Tell it to the judge."

I bought some little squeeze bottles at REI, but they're only 2 oz each, which is fine for a cup of tea or two on a day hike, but aren't going to last long otherwise. I can't remember what else they have, but it might be worth a visit if there's one in your area.
