LOL! (though a direct link would be appreciated, as context is everything when measuring credibility ...) I have threatened for years to carry a fat permanent marker to correct public signs. "No, milord, it's not vandalism, it's a genuine public service and I should really get a different kind of citation." UrbanDictionary has a unique take, as always. Maybe this is a plea for soil amendment? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Drit

Why spelling and punctuation ARE important... Yes, grammar is important too. Jeanette Isabelle

LOL! (though a direct link would be appreciated, as context is everything when measuring credibility ...) I don't know the story behind the picture. I included the same link I was given. The people I hang out with like to display funny pictures but this time I laughed so hard my stomach ached. Jeanette Isabelle

VERY FUNNY! I wonder if he ever got any 'drit'?
When I lived in San Jose, CA, I had to drive under a concrete RR overpass. One day, there was a blue-painted message: "Aran Nation".
The next day or so, someone had sprayed a line of black paint through it, and written "Arian Nation, Stupid!"
It took almost a week for another person with purple paint to run a line through both previous messages and add their own: "Aryan Nation is too stupid to take seriously".
After a month or more, someone took a roller and covered it all, and adding their message: "Eddie loves Katie".

Why spelling and punctuation ARE important... I thought that too - why conjugation is important! Doug, reminds me of "Life of Brian," from Monti Python, the scene where the Romans are correcting Brian's conjugation and declination of the words.

I suspect all the signs were done by one person. My guess is he tried to make the "handwriting" (spraypaintwriting?) different, but there is a certain larger similarity amongst the characters from the three signs. The white poster suggests to me that this is a clever ad from a print shop, perhaps targeting a rural clientele. You may be right. This setup looks like a play on the phrase "dirt cheap." However, the professional sign does not give the name of a business nor contact information. Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with any sign company. Jeanette Isabelle

...the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Possible to do, but not comfy, and I certainly can't read it as fast. But if you don't know the difference between Recipe, Receipt, Receive, Recipiant, etc, because you've been taught spelling on the American Plan, what happens then? Sue

Also, I doubt if it works for those who read English as a second language. Likewise, I could not read, for example, Spanish if the words were jumbled like that. Anyway, I have to admit the paragraph shocked me the first time I read it. Most of the words are not identifiable outside the context of the paragraph, pretty funny.

English is my 2nd language and I can read that just fine, although I've been reading English for a damn long time.
