I appreciate the offer. However, your email is not listed, so I am unable to send you a private message.

in the "Posted by" column, click on BOATMAN name, then you get all the (nasty ) details about his personal life. And then you can click on "Send a Private Messagel"

Success! I found a website whose diagrams I can follow, and have mastered the knots involved. The link is credited to RayW who posted it on this forum sometime ago. http://tinyurl.com/3yp56Martin

Yes, but you can click it only if "Send a private message" is hot-linked to an email address. Boatman has not listed his email address. Or am I missing something?

Thank you so much for the posting the great lanyard directions. Even I think I can do it.

Yep, you're missing something. The forum suports an internal mail feature that will manage a mailbox for each user. It is not addressable from outside (I don't think) but if you click the send-private mail button you will get a page that looks very much like the post message page that I am typing this into. Enter your message there and next time the intended user logs on they will be notified that they have mail by a flashing envelope in the menu-bar. If they click on the flashing envelope they will be taken to their mailbox and be able to read the personal message. It is not accessable to anyone else in the forum (Other than perhaps to the administrators) except you (only during your edit / creation of it) and the intended reciepient (or at least the user of that account on the forum.)

A while back I read the info & followed the links to making the sennet knot paracord keyfob, which is the version most of the military guys make.
While I was successful in making the fob, I had a realization: when properly made, the sennet knot fobs are woven/tied VERY tightly. If you don't make it tight, the knot doesn't form very well. But while testing the fob to see what it took to UNTIE (always test your gear at home in benign conditions!), I found that it is a major pain in the arse. It seemed to take almost as much effort and finger power to undo the sennet as to make it in the first place. Even the link that best described the knot said something like "...if you don't have worn grooves in your fingers after tying it, you haven't made it tight enough".
My conclusion: just make a semi-flat wad of 6' to 8' of paracord, looped lightly together, and carry it in your pocket as you would a folding knife or your keys. It seems to compress into a flat shape. Works for me, and the stuff is 1000% more accessible with 0.001% of the hassle. YMMV
