This thread is reminding me of the opening line of Virgil's Aeneid - "Arma virumque cano" - "of arms and the man I sing". Never know when a misspent youth studying Latin will come in handy.

I've got just ONE question for this 64-year old dude.

Did he rememeber to carry a good SHARP knife with him ... when he went on this hike. Anyone who's seen the movie knows what I'm talking about :-)

In this and many other situations: forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit (it will perhaps be a joy to remember even this one day). From a little later in Book 1.
