I managed to burn my hand this morning, making breakfast. I know first aid so the first thing I did was get a bowl (1 liter), fill it with cold water and dunk my hand in it for a while. As I was soaking, I got out the Silver Sulfadiazine (which I got the last time I burned my hand) and other first aid gear I had on hand. I'm out of self-adhesive bandages so I used a sterile gauze pad, silk tape and a pair of EMT shears.
Lesson: Regularly check your supply of first aid gear for self-adhesive bandages.

I use more bandaids and antibiotic ointment than anything else, by far!
It's esp amazing how dirty they get when working in the garden. Another two boxes are on my shopping list right now.

It's esp amazing how dirty they get when working in the garden. When working outside, I use work gloves. The problem is there are no work gloves for women. Even size small is too big. Jeanette Isabelle

The first link does have real women's work gloves however I have been down this road before. I won't buy gloves until I try them first. I can't comment on the third link since it does not provide enough information but most of these are gardening gloves, not real work gloves. Jeanette Isabelle

Thanks to Costco, I have a Band-Aid supply sufficient for an elementary school for several years.

Have you looked at Duluth Trading Company? They do feature women's work gloves (size Small measures 6 1/2 - 7 inches around the palm). I have been very happy wil nearly all the products I have purchased from them, which unfortunately does not include women's gloves....

A couple of years ago, working in a park with a picnic area, a person ran up to me and told me that someone had fallen into a fire and was burned. I started (hotfooted it?) over that way and was horrified to see that their face looked like raw hamburger. When I got close enough, I saw that what was blood-red, was salsa. Yeah, salsa. My spanish wasn't good enough to ask why salsa--from the cooler--instead of cold water. I shook my head and got on with fixing it. At the end of the day my boss says, "Hrmmph, guess it was hot enough, that they didn't need the Tabasco."

...what was blood-red, was salsa. Probably an old family remedy, like applying tobacco to a snake bite. Sue
