Good tips were stay a foot away from the walls; bullets skim along them.
Bullets tend to either bounce off walls or embed themselves therein, not skim them. I'd like to see a source on that.
I believe the scenario alluded to would involve a bullet fired at a very shallow angle along something like a storefront; a very shallow ricochet.
