Just Purchased a Awesome Mini Presidio Ultra at a store on impulse during vacation and Im loving its design and sturdy feel. Unfortunately It was a Display model in which the store only sells single knives at a time so no untouched ones behind the counter.

The blade has a patina to it (guess its been sitting in that sea air filled display case for awhile) and has a gnarly rough edge to it. They had to also spend about 10 minutes removing the huge bar code sticker they for some reason felt was best to slap on the blade itself.

Do I Regret buying the knife? Nope not really the tarnishing isnt to bad and the blade can always be reworked so Im not to bummed. I Shoulda taken a closer look and mentioned the two issues But Due to other reasons I was to busy just basking in buying a benchmade from a storefront on vacation (Killer souvenir wouldnt ya say?)

So whats your take? Would you Mention the issues to them? Purchase it even with the issues knowing they can easily be fixed? Ask for discount?

Has anyone else had these kind of issues via Storefront or even Internet purchase?

Well, you can't say you don't have the chance to see what you're getting! I might try to talk them down a little bit on price but if the price is decent I don't mind putting in a little work on a knife. There's little that's "unfixable", it just takes work.

Well, on the (sort of) bright side, Benchmade factory edge is usually pretty awful, so you'll have to regrind the edge anyway, lol.

Wow, Izzy- what motivated you to get rid of all your folders? I find them to be pretty handy. It's hard to imagine ever getting rid of my Kershaw Onion folders nor my Spydercos...and it's sacrilege to ditch all the SAKs! eek grin

So I got a One Stage knife sharpener (Im not to good at stoning a knife) And tried it on a a dull cheap knife before the Benchmade and it put a very pretty edge to it. I use it on my benchmade and it cant seem to get rid of the steak knife serration like rough horrible edge on it. Im so sad I may just send it to benchmade and ask them to put a pretty edge on it along with my barrage.
