I have the Sog. It is impossible to get razor sharp and it is possible to squeeze the handle enough so it hants the handel basically rendering the pliers useless. I think the Gerber is probibly a better design.

I'm rather the opposite of Paul. I have a Gerber Recoil, but have never used a SOG. To be honest, my Recoil lives in my BOB, and doesn't see all that much use. Insofar as I've played with it (and the Recoil just cries out to be played with!), it seems like a solid design. In some respects it's rather limited - no saw for example - but what's there seems to work well enough. I've read that the knife can be opened one handed, but I've found this extremely difficult to do in practice unless you're persistent and don't mind shifting the tool around in your hand a bit to do it. It can be done, but I guarantee it won't be your preferred opening method.

But those spring-loaded pliers...seriously cool! <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

hi,

Are there anymore people that have the gerber RAP or SOG switchplier?
How wide do the pliers open on both tools?(tipt to tip)
Do the pliers swobble on the RAP, is it a good design? is it easy to use the screwdrivers and blades?

greetings,

mike
