My wife and I are driving to Illinois from Connecticut via I-80 for a wedding in late May. We want to break the trip into two days so we can "see America". Ideally, we want to find an interesting area to stop over somewhere between Akron and Toledo since the midpoint of the trip appears to fall in that area. Any suggestions?

'course it matters where in Ill you're going but if you were to shift a bit north and take 90 you could stop in Buffalo / Niagra falls. Closer to CT than Ill but if you're headed for Cincinnati it could be considered "on the way"

We're headed for Rockford which is NW or Chicago. I looked at Rte. 90 as an option for the way back if time permits. We were also considering going through Canada via Detroit and back to the US at Niagara.
