I'm a newbie to this forum. Introducing myself and looking forward to some great discussions!
Army veteran (trying to reenlist in the Reserves), divorced dad of three, living in an impoverished city in Virginia, but from NW Indiana originally. I've always had an interest in frontier culture and the skills that go with that. I feel that homesteading, self-sufficiency and preparedness are all hand-in-glove areas of knowledge.
I'm an avid reader and often try to combine modern ideas & techniques with older technology. Recently taken up fishing after a 30 year hiatus. Like to hike with my heavy large ALICE rucksack and to bike.
Like most folks here, I have my gear prefernces, but I'm here to learn and swap info.

I think you will find the group a great bunch of people. They come from all over the world, each with a fair amount of knowledge and experience. They are willing to share that knowledge and their personal experiences with others, so each might be better prepared for emergencies.
