I was whiling away a rainy evening watching Man V Wild. While mindlessly watching and counting how many times he flaunted or used his orange and black BG knife I saw this:

Don't mimic the Bear!

It would be impossible to mimic the Bear... because they have a script, an advance setup team, rehearsals, retakes, a film crew, an onsite production crew, and extensive editing after filming. They probably even have a caterer. Sliding 30 feet down that rock was no accident, it was a carefully choreographed stunt. The only thing missing from that scene was the sound of the generators from the RV's parked fifty feet behind the camera. smile They don't call it "reality" TV for nothing smile

I hope I haven't ruined the show for you. It is entertaining to watch.

Gotta give the Discovery Channel some credit though... I mean look at the Survivorman series. At least they did an entire behind the scenes show where they actually showed all the advance prep that goes into a show and Stroud does tell the viewers straight up what the deal is as far as what's scripted and what's not.

No, you haven't ruined the show. It is idle-time amusement only for me. That said, I will admit that there are a few nuggets of information sandwiched between stunts. The reason I (and others on this forum) post about this show is to illustrate the danger in trying to do what he does. My fear is that some inexperienced kids will try one of these stunts and get hurt. Les Stroud was the real deal and stunt-free. But even his show had emergency support.
