You noted a common problem. No matter how much I say I'll check flashlights regularly, I end up slacking off eventually.

What I've decided to do is keep a fully functioning flashlight in my personal man bag at all times. I also keep fresh batteries in a spot I could find in the dark. As for the flashlights around the house, I can try to keep their batteries fresh, but I'm realistic with myself.
