A chartered fishing vessel capsized in a storm in the Sea of Cortez. Many were rescued, but 7 are still missing. It was a pretty big boat (115 feet) that was only about 2 miles from shore.

I swear, if I found myself on a ship I would be compelled to be the ultimate "on-body carry" dweeb. I'm sure my wife would not approve.

Sixteen hours in the ocean with no flotation device... it must have been hard to spend those 16 hours clinging to a life ring or ice chest.

I guess you need to sleep in an inflatable vest.

If they were only two miles from shore, I hope the authorities checked that shore!

Bad end to a fun trip. I hope the others are okay, and weren't trapped in the boat when it went down.

Update

The 7 are still missing, and the rescued people are on their way home today. Doesn't look good for the 7, though under the circumstances they may well have gone down with the ship at the outset.
