Time for some mindless amusement…..

OK, the Lion of Babylon was on the run for 9 months before he was dug out of his 'spider hole'. From the video, he seemed well-fed and healthy, which begs the question: just what does a maniacal, authoritarian despot need to survive on the lam? What, exactly, is needed in a Tyrant Survival Kit (TSK)?

My TSK suggestions:

Emergency Devices Group, Food and Shelter Group:

- Several trunks stuffed with crisp, un-circulated C-notes
- Pistol
- A couple of trusted minions with assault rifles
- Well used taxi

Medical Group:

- Jack Daniels Black Label

Signaling Group

- Cassette recorder, blank tapes
- Al-Jazeera's phone number

Other suggestions? I'm sure several of you (OK, most of you) could do better.

Cliff,

I hate to question a man from Luisiana on alcohol but... I'm aware of Johny Walker Black Label (and red label and gold label and blue label (yummy)). I'm also aware of regular Jack Daniels and Gentelmans Single Barell Jack. When you mentioned Jack Daniels Black Label is that something I listed above or something that we don't get in NYC (like Everclear).

Matt--

Jack Daniel's Black Label is their "Old No. 7" Tennessee Sour Mash whiskey--the primary product of the Distillery--so nick-named because of it's white-lettering-on-black label. They also have a cheaper (price-wise) line with a green label. Some years back, the Distillery introduced a premium line called "Gentleman Jack", which also has a black label.

Yeah I just never heard regular JD being called black label. But since there is JD with green label it makes sense (I never seen one). Anyway I have few shots for the capture and to bless our troops.

Don't carry names and addresses of your known associates and fellow despots on your person or in your bug out briefcase.

Also, a toothbrush, floss, and mints may come in handy for those post capture trips to the dentist.

Good point.

Some other comments:

1. I would recommend ditching the pistol if you're NOT GOING TO USE IT AND GO OUT LIKE A MAN...... It's so, Noriega.

2. If you have 750 G's of pin money in your bug-out trunk, you should be able to do better than a fridge full of hot dogs and 7-Up.

3. Hire reliable henchmen who know how to handle a broom. Nothing says washed up despot like a messy hideout.

Let's not forget bug repellent and insecticide effective against lice, and deodorant. Naturally all should be odorless.

I can't speak for the kit's effectiveness for survival, but if I'd had one of those back in college we would have had an EPIC weekend!!!!
