B_H's summary is the gist of the article. The rest IMO is long-winded blah blah. Summary: "wilderness will surprise you; it will not conform to your expectations; go out into the field; test your pet theories; take notes; modify your head and your gear accordingly." This is not new.

(BTW: Forest and Stream? Sounds vaguely familiar. Somebody is riding on coat-tails.)
