A large towel can be converted into a variety of packs. Fold in half, safety pin up both sides, and a bit of light line form upper corners to lower corners. Or, as a traditional roll type, place goodies along one edge in a row while avoiding the ends, roll tightly, fold in half, wrap the two open ends with a light line.
In either case if you are short light rope to make it work rip a strip from the long edge to create something to work with.
Tumbling down a slope you lose one or both boots. Cut pieces and improvise footwear to make up the loss. Ripping the towel into four inch strips and wrapping along the foot might be most efficient. Grasses and vegetation can be inserted between wraps for extra cushioning.
