I believe it was Louis Trenker who said, "Wisdom is knowing when to get off the mountain."

I couldn't agree more. I've likewise bailed off routes when weather or personnel started deteriorating. When circumstances change, it's time to think about rearranging your priorities. For us, the route wasn't going anywhere and we could come back to try it again some other day.
