Ya know, I realized I just thought about my backpack and my Jeep. Thanks to bacpacjac & joel I realize I EDC a super compressed heat sheet and have an collapsible UL umbrella in the Jeep. AND my wifes van has kids ponchos, umbrellas, and full weather kit for adults.
Moral of the story, it's one thing to be prepared, another to know your assets. Geesh.

Not EDC because urban dweller. Goretex suit and hat part of BOB. Golf umbrella in vehicle when appropriate; often a rainy day hiking companion.

As an urban dweller, I embrace the outside between insides. But EDCing a rainsuit or umbrella is unnecessary in my part of California and impractical; they just do not fit in wallet or pocket very well.
When rain is upon us, then I usually wear a coat that can deal with the wet and put an umbrella in the car in case the rain is torrential. Both coat and umbrella become nuisances for which few inside places are set up well.
