Anyone have any recommendations for worthwhile apps to download to an i-Phone, i-Pad or i-Touch?

I'm picking up a new i-Touch tomorrow and am searching for useful apps, especially those of particular interest to the ETS community.

In my i-Tunes library, I have iTorch4 and Survival Guide. And just found a Coleman Lantern app that I downloaded for old time's sake.

Am trying to sort through the many options for a compass, many of which I gather aren't of much use with the i-Touch.

Need a First-Aid app.

Free is nice but am also looking for good value in paid apps.

Unfortunately the iTouch doesn't have the onboard fluxgate compass or GPS receiver that my iPhone has, so as a navigation device it's limited.

I'm fond of iTopoMaps -- I have the quads I use downloaded to the device so I don't need a data connection to use my maps. It'll work on an iTouch, it just won't show you where you are.

I like the electronic version of the SAS Survival Handbook. Worth the money.

The WikiHow Emergency Survival Kit app covers things that the SAS Survival Handbook does not and is easier to navigate if you're looking something up that you need to know immediately.

Combating boredom is vital. I watch movies on the train and play games on my iPhone all the time. Ebooks also make me happy. My favorite ebook reader is Stanza, but eReaderPro is also very good. Google Books is good too.

Thanks much, Chaos -- I've now downloaded a couple of those and will look further at the rest!

My pleasure. I'm something of a patron of the arts when it comes to mobile gaming. If that's something you would like to spend your hard-earned money on, I'll be glad to make recommendations.

Thanks for the link.

They also have an Android version on the Market. It seems just to be available for small screen devices as it was available from my DroidX, but not for my Xoom. Sees to have been developed in conjunction with Adventure Medical Kits.

Thanks again,

Michael
