So After grinding down my Firesteel pup to barely anything on one and getting sore fingers from trying to hold it I saw a small sapling and BING my brain Woke up! So I Came up with this keeping in mind what my survival kit and many others may very well include.

The Plastic knife is for size reference. So as you can see I used two piece of wire (I think 20 gauge?) and a multitool and just twisted it around the saplings cut off base and tada! Greatest thing is IT WORKS =D!!! I Dont wanna risk my only firesteel.com super striker and mess up the plastic or crack it trying to do the same thing but Im sure it would work on that aswell to easily get a grip on that aswell.

Alittle more refined. The bark proved to be a bad idea to leave on so I took it off and used the saw of the multitool to dig out a notch for the steel to rest in.

Ah, it took me a minute but now I understand. The stick is now a handle for the firesteel so you can start striking it along the side you used to hold. Nice!

Great idea Frisket!

I picked up a firesteel set from the Canadian Scout Shop, that has a simulated antler handle and find it much easier to work with, especially with cold hands. It's too big for my PSK though. This is a great alternative. Thanks!

(Yup, I'm affiliated but not for any financial gain, just for the pure joy of helping create a better world through our kids.)

Very neat =D Nothing works best like a full grip handle on a firesteel. The short little red nub of a handles on swedish firesteels arent even that good.

Very good idea!

This is a perfect example of testing things well before they're needed to save your life.
