It's pretty sobering to read in the local paper that five people were killed by flooding in the region Monday (2 locally) -- when I was driving through the water and finally surrendered.
The two local victims were found Tuesday morning by police. These guys tried to cross a low-water bridge about 2 miles northeast of where I parked at the regional airport. Their truck washed off the bridge.
Desperado, I'll get by the RV park to report on how high the water got. Because you've been in the area, the bridge/box culvert on the north airport access road was under 8 feet of water.
The ice storm of 2009-10 Desperado referred to compounded the problem because all those broken limbs got washed along, clogging drainage pipes, culverts, and blocking roads with debris.
