MDinana, the water was about 3 feet deep -- the average cow is about the same height as a person.
Luckily the cattle were out of the current; my son drove up on a 4-wheeler as close as he could, then waded to the fence and cut the wires. He said the cows didn't take much persuading to convince to go through the gap.
The levee failure is all the way across the state from us -- but suffering from the same type storms -- thunderstorm trains, one right after the other.
The farm adjacent to our farm recorded 18 inches of rain from Friday to last night. We're supposed to get rain for the next couple days, then over the weekend again.
On the bright side of things, our ponds are full and the grass is going to produce some well-watered, great hay this year!
