I'm sitting in my car, near the regional airport on high ground, trapped by flooded roads. Northwest Arkansas had has more than a foot of rain. Trying to make it home I drove through some standing water but declined to be a fool and drive into running water. I was shocked at how many people are so desperate they are driving through it.
My son had to cut some neighbor's fences to allow their trapped cows to get out of chest deep water.
He watched a pickup truck try to cross a flooded bridge. The truck's backend broke loose and turned him sideways but he managed to make it through.
Take a look at the radar from the Tulsa office of National Weather Service. We're going to be pounded for the whole night.
And I'll sit here happily safe in my little car. Warm, full belly, prepared.

Wow, Newsman, that's a hair-raising situation. Good call on staying put.
Kudos to your son for stepping up and cutting those fences.
Be safe, and give us updates when you can.

Desperado, yes, the airport just west of Cave Springs.
We set for about an hour until airport police released us to take a roundabout way to town.
TV reports U.S. Highway 62 west of Fayetteville still closed.
The water's gone down in the upper areas of the watersheds, but the downstream areas remain in extreme flood. One river running west into Oklahoma (Illinois river, same one that closed US 62) exceeded it's all-time record crest over in Oklahoma.
With rain in the forecast for the next 5 days flash flood chance remains high.

I spent the winter of 2009/2010 in the RV park at The Creeks Golf Course.
I am in the wireless industry, and worked up there for a good part of the time that winter.
Ice storms and all.

Good luck! (probably a little after the fact now) If the water was chest high on the cattle, how high was it on your son? Edit:Is that anywhere near the damn that they're predicting to fail? Poplar bluff, MO. http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/04/26/missouri.levee.failure/index.html?hpt=T1

MDinana, the water was about 3 feet deep -- the average cow is about the same height as a person.
Luckily the cattle were out of the current; my son drove up on a 4-wheeler as close as he could, then waded to the fence and cut the wires. He said the cows didn't take much persuading to convince to go through the gap.
The levee failure is all the way across the state from us -- but suffering from the same type storms -- thunderstorm trains, one right after the other.
The farm adjacent to our farm recorded 18 inches of rain from Friday to last night. We're supposed to get rain for the next couple days, then over the weekend again.
On the bright side of things, our ponds are full and the grass is going to produce some well-watered, great hay this year!
