My Wife and 12 yo daughter are going to Sweeden this summer and may have a long layover in Paris on the way back. Any suggestions as to something they can go see? Seems a shame not to take advantage of the oppourtunity.

Musee de l'Homme (Museum of Man) - world class institution. I believe they have a new building, but I don't know the specifics. There is also a tower or something there - it's supposed to be pretty tall.

May I suggest taking a couple days, renting a car and driving to Versailles? As long as you already have a layover, you may as well make it a long layover and do something worth the effort.

The Louvre is good too if you would rather stay in Paris. Musee d' Orsay (also in Paris) is another good museum if you prefer more contemporary artists.

Mused d'Orsay is my favorite art museum anywhere.

Charles de Gaul airport to downtown is pretty easy and quick by train. The Metro is easy, and Paris is a great city just to walk around.

Yes. But buying that ticket at CDG can be a pain -- it took us at least 45 minutes so be prepared. I second Jesselp's comment about walking. I would spend a good part of this layover walking from the Louve to the Invalides with a stop at the tower. Then I'd find a really good restaurant to stop at for lunch or to end the day.

One of my favorite meals was a cassolet at a place called "Chez Eux" near the Invalides. (http://www.chezeux.com/). There are more than a few good restaurants in the area or along the way (more or less). These can be pricey by US standards but well worth it.

Heck, if you've never been, hit the Eiffel tower and/or Champs e'lysess and the Arc D'triumph. You could probably do 2 of the 3 in 10 hours.

Go on the Louvre internet site. Pick 5-10 of the treasures you most want to see. Map out your tour route in the museum, because it is incredibly large. It is also the most magnificent collection of treasure I've ever seen, including the British Mueseum in London and the Metropolitan in New York City. After that, if you have some time, walk out onto the Champs Elysee, the world's prettiest boulevard. Have a coffee and watch Paris walk past you.

Paris is an awesome city. But I doubt if in ten hours you could see much in a museum. Better to take the advice given above by MDinana - Eiffel Tower, Arc D' Triumph, etc - and hang out in a sidewalk cafe.

Make sure you post pics of what they do, whatever it is.
