I work (summer job) for my fathers company who distributes safety equipment(just a poor mans website web page ). We sell a flashlight line called Underwater Kinetics ( web page ). They are very durable, and last. They meet some Ansi or Osha standard that required them to complete a drop test (30 Feet 30 times on concrete). There is a 2AAA that attaches to your hat, and around christmas you may find one with a mini army knife included. They also make that model in led. the UKE 2L Lithium Light is also a great choice that emits an extremely intense beam for its small size, and the batteries have a shelf life of up to 10 years. Please note I am speaking on behalf of the industrial line. <img src="images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Dont let me discourage you from a streamlight, for we also sell them, but are not active in selling them, because there is not much new. Also look at uk's dry boxes, I happen to have fallen in love with their durability. <img src="images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

thank you for your suggestion but I already have an opinion on UK products. When I started diving I bought 2L flashlight because it was small, powerful and cheap in comparison to other lights. Maybe if I kept it in the box, wrapped around in paper towel and took it out only for diving than probably it would have been a great light. Unfortunately I use my equipment a lot and I threw this flashlight in my backpack during hikes, it was hanging from my keychain and was part of my life vest on couple of kayaking trips. After 12 months of intense use it looked horrible. Body was all scratched up, rubber housing for the head was half gone exposing joints on the lens and it was getting harder to turn on. So no thank you, I'm done with UK products. I know they have warranties and everything but if I had to sit around waiting for my equipment to come back I would have to have two of everything.

But enough about UK. Is you dad involved with retail or mostly wholesale? Do you have a catalog or equipment list with prices?

Yeah, you're right, I'm a little hesitant to buy CR123 flashlights for other people, too, as I would probably then have to be the supplier of the batteries! <img src="images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Maybe the Streamlight 3AA TwinTask would be the way to go. You can get that for about $24, and then spend about $5 for a pack of 2 replacement xenon bulbs, and your friends would be set for a while. Or the Streamlight 3AA Luxeon Task Light (about $36), which won't be quite as bright as the xenon, but then they'll never have to worry about changing a bulb. The only drawback is these lights are a little long (about 8.5 inches), but they're still shorter than a Mag 2D, and thinner and lighter. And they're much nicer lights than the Mags.

After read&#305;ng your post and checking the links I have decided to modify my Maglite Solitaire which I had not been using since I met with LEDs. I already had a blue 6V LED so I just bought a 6V battery and made a spacer as the battery is shorter. Then I had to modify the screen a bit.

Works excellent for now.

I highly recommend CMG Infinity Ultra.They are about as bright as a Photon 2 and water proof to thirty feet.The really nice thing is that they take one AA battery.CMG claims the Ultra will run for 25 hours on one AA battery.I own a CMG Task light and an Ultra and they are still on the same batteries when I first got them.The task light is a red L.E.D. and I have had it 2+ years.These are good products.I hope this helps.
