My best recommendation once he knows what languages are most common in the areas he will be deployed to is to learn phrases such as; "Let's pretend to be friendly to this infidel (or other derogatory terms.) so that we can catch him off guard and kill him." If he is alive, at least he can have a chance to use the stuff in his backpacks.
