The press certainly is way overboard on this issue. I do agree.
I priced geiger counters for home use today - primarily out of curiosity. I am not planning on buying one at the current time, and definitely not during the current "crisis". But I may consider it at some time in the future - just because I've come to the conclusion that governments won't ever tell their people what is going on during nuclear accidents. These units cost in the range $300-$500, which is quite steep! Right now i am using any spare cash to stock up my meds, water and food supplies at home ... a more practical solution to the whole thing.
