Here's how we packaged dry beans and wheat in 5 gal buckets:
- line the bucket with a purpose-made mylar liner
- add the beans and put in a bit of diatomaceous (sp?) earth, mixing well
- add oxygen absorber
- roll the top opening of the mylar bag except for a small opening
- insert rod attached to a portable nitrogen cylinder, and purge with nitrogen (outdoors!). As N2 is colorless and odorless, we guesstimated how long to purge. The O2 absorber is for any residual air.
- roll down top of mylar bag as N2 rod is withdrawn, then seal top of bucket with the tough snap-on lid (requires pounding the lid's rim with a rubber mallet)
