I'm not familiar with all of those types, but a quality Pinto bean, properly stored in a full #10 can with oxygen packets, will store 30 years. So, you can write off that one year expiration as a sales tactic.
Although there is some sales tactic in the date, the beans described are NOT in cans with oxygen removal. After some time they will become hard (as described in a previous response) and they loose some of their food quality over time (oxidation and bacterial consumption) and they can mold. These are especially true if the beans are stored in bags that are not completely sealed (most commercial packaging). The climate can also influence the rate of decomposition.
