We have just received word that ATK will be increasing prices effective May 1,2011. This would include the following brands: Federal, American Eagle, Speer,CCI, Blazer,Estate, Black Cloud, Champion, and Fusion.

The increase is as follows:

Center Handgun 7-15%
Promo Rimfire 10-15%
Standard Rimfire 5-10%
Shotshell 5-10%
Primers 10%

This increase is due to the cost of raw materials.

Remember - "The one who dies with the most ammo, dies last".

Distress signals should not be used for advertising.

You should be charged for this rescue.

While I appreciate having some notice of increasing prices the MAYDAY call is customarily reserved for imminent threats to life and limb.

Over the last 5 years, ammo has easily been my best investment of all my assets, including a house, cars, clothes, stocks, jewelry, etc. My house is "underwater". My ammo I bought 5 years has more than doubled in value. I am not advising everybody to go out and buy ammo. I'm just making an observation. Heck, I almost don't want to practice shooting anymore because my ammo is a precious asset.

Gave me a chuckle. Like those specialized companies that allow people to hold gold and silver in a personal Individual Retirement Account, gotta find one that allows people to hold ammo in an IRA!

Most likely this is inside information but where is the official comment on this from Winchester or ammo supplier. The only reference to this on Google is this OP.

For the record, I don't doubt it.

I think it's fair to assume that everybody hoards a higher percentage of their supply every year, whether they realize it or not. I know every time ammo prices go up, there's an additional part of me that doesn't want to shoot my ammo. When I do go shooting at the range, the practice is becoming more for a purpose, and less for kicks.

That's odd, ammo prices have dropped across the board, and in recent weeks there has been some great deals at retailers on Federal.

Are you the only dealer aware or are up the chain further ?

On October 29, 2010, Winchester issued a pricing announcement letter with anticipated minimum increases on all shipments beginning April 1, 2011. Since that time the costs of key materials used in the manufacture of ammunition have escalated significantly. Therefore, we are revising our price increases and they will supersede those announced on the October 29, 2010 letter and the price lists distributed on January 14, 2011.

The following price increases will be effective on all shipments beginning
May 1, 2011.
