Naturally, I'd get my EDC Frontier filter straw out, drink the puddle dry, removing the hazard and re-hydrating in the process. Multi-use gear. You gotta like that. smile

Run to the local latte place and grab a straw and empty cup. Return to the puddle and siphon it into and empty latte cup. Now I can cross safety and I've added to my water stores.

We could maybe try this at the river if Starbucks has found that corner of the world already!
