I am so pleased with Leatherman. I broke the tip off my main blade. I sent it into Leatherman for repair. They sent me back a brand new tool within a day of receiving my broken tool. No charge.

same here,i busted the blade trying to pry a lump of sap off a pine tree for a fire starter.i sent it back with a note that i would be willing to pay for my mistake,prying not cutting,and they sent another knife.i don't go camping without it.

You pay a little more up front, but the service you get with Leatherman is stellar. I've never had a problem.

Which reminds me, I need to send some of the 'fleet' for minor repairs/updates.

And if I get some Christmas fun money, the Supertool 300 is calling me. Hope it comes with a Sherpa to schlep it around for me!

I find myself carrying (and using) my ST300 more than I would have thought. I wouldn't trade my pre-'04 Wave for anything, but the ST300 is a worthy successor to the original Super Tool.

I'm curious as to your impressions about the 300. Do you find that the broader pliers get in the way? Do you like the mix of "blades that come out individually" and "the rest of the tools coming out in a clump?"

Once tossed my Juice XE6 into an ultrasonic cleaner at work, used the straight blade right after and snapped it off...replaced with no questions asked.

My Surge needs a new scissor spring, the old one fell out...think I will ping it in place when I get around to sending it in.

The pliers are a good shape. Can I get them in to all of the smallest areas that an original PST's pliers can get into? Not quite. But they do work well for me for a variety of tasks.

My preference is to have each tool come out individually, but it's never been too hard for me to get the right tool out when I need it with the ST300. You're kidding yourself if you think you can do it with gloves on. The locking mechanism works well for me but you have to hold the tool in a way that keeps pressure off of the latch.

If I had to choose only one multitool, it would be a Wave. Having a Wave (well, two Waves) I use the ST300 frequently, most often in situations where weight isn't a factor.

Note that I never carry the ST300 unless I'm also carrying a lockback knife. While the knife blades on an ST300 are quite usable they're slow to deploy.

If you do send em all, keep one back. I really missed my Charge while it was in process.

Last weekend I snapped the knife blade on my oldest, and most basic, Leatherman. Stupid move on my part and not their fault. It's tool so old that inscription simply says "LEATHERMAN tm TOOL portland or ". Evidently it dates back to when Leatherman only made one style tool so there was no need for a name.

Went to the Leatherman site and found what looks like it on their "retired tools" page:

Looks the same, mostly. The blades are the same but it isn't marked as a PST, can't tell if the PST is, the wire cutter doesn't have a notch for hard wire and the pliers have a blasting cap crimp (Never used, and too big for standard electrical fittings). Otherwise very close.

Nice tool. I've always liked it because it was smaller and lighter than other units. Always had just the right blades to get by. For years it was my EDC knife. Later, when I got the Wave, the original before the multi-bit version came out, never liked the multi-bit, I demoted it to secondary use. Often carried it when I wore a suit. Being smaller than the Wave it slips into a pocket without making me look like I'm too enthusiastic. A bit flatter than most SAKs.

Anyway, the knife blade snapped and I'll send it in. It's been ages, perhaps better than twenty-five years, so it wouldn't surprise me if they want some sort of payment but if I can get a new blade installed I'll be happy. Even if it runs a bit north of what new unit would cost. I get sentimental about my pocket tools.

My Charge is on the retired list too, but they sent me back the exact same model in new condition. The one I sent in, wouldn't have cleaned up so nice.

Hopefully they can pop a new blade into your PST. That is a sweet looking tool.
