Sweet looking knife. Any idea on ship dates? I'm eventually going to The Sandbox, and ideally would take this over and give it a run for the money outside the forest.

Nice knife and I would not mind purchasing one but the knifeworks website is confusing on shipping international. One paragraph says no international shipping, then below it says $33.95 shipping to Canada with an extra $3.00 per additional lb. With the knife weighing almost 14 oz and then add in packaging material, the excessive shipping costs makes this purchase prohibitive.

I don't mind paying some shipping fees, however $33.95 + is too much. I purchase similar sized goods from the USA via Ebay on a regular basis and the shipping is typically about 1/2 of the above...if not less sometimes.

Well, that simplifies the decision process. Ordered. I'll save up for a Mk3.

While I think it was worth the wait, I think you are saying its not worth the weight!

:-)

I hope you can find a more economical way (weigh?) to obtain one.

Money is not an issue. I can very easily afford to pay for the shipping 10x over however there is a point where not paying excessive fees is simply a matter of principle regardless of the cause or the benefactor.

Ordered mine and asked for a matching serial number to my MK1, MK-1 mini, and MK3. Now I have to wait :-)

You can view some images of the prototype sheath at:

http://www.dougritter.com/pp/pic3019.htm

PLEASE NOTE: the tab on the retaining strap on the production sheath will be about 1/2 as long as that on the prototype. Still plenty for one-handed operation with the stiffener, but won't stick out so far as to get caught on things.

Teslinhiker, you may be in Canada but it is for sure that being in Asia, and further beyond US , Knifeworks has a policy of minimum orders of US$100 for international orders. I found out this when I called them.

I just got the following update from our friends at knifeworks.com:

Quote:
Update on the Doug Ritter RSK MK2 that you have pre ordered:

We have been informed by Benchmade that there is a delay on the arrival as expected. Due to the unforeseen in difficulties with the sheath. We are now expecting these around the end of February. We apologize about the delay and we appreciate your understanding.

I'm glad that they sent the update. That's good customer service.

Got the same e-mail.

Oddly, I had called them this afternoon asking about the status of my order. I'm a little bummed that they had me pay for the item when it's going to be close to three months before I get it. . .

Not there fault about the delay, I know, but I would prefer them to take my credit card information and not charge me until the item ships.

A knife designed by Ethan Becker and Doug Ritter, and then manufactured by Rowen -- looking forward to the end of Feb.
