Widen the horizons for fellow celebrants by bringing one or samples of a wild food to the party. Consider bringing a little of how you would encounter it in the wild and one or more finished food products. The kids might learn something and gain a new interest.

In California the Christmas red toyon berries are just about ripe and make fine cold cider, hot tea, and jelly - among other things.

What wild foods are rtpe in your area?
