Hi guys,

I was watching a TV show on the travel channel where a guy had an axe (boy's axe, I think- not a full sized one) attatched to the side of his backpack. It was hanging upside down, blade pointing away from him. The TV only showed it for a second, so it was hard to get a good look. I know that the axe head did have a sheath.

I have an Large Alice Pack (US army issue). The little loops on the side are too small to really fit anything useful into (Not even a hatchet!) And I have looked and looked for something that will clip an axe onto those loops. I don't even need to carry a full sized axe- a boy's axe would do just fine.

The guy probably had some kind of special backpack, but I still hold out hope that there is something out there that will allow me to carry an axe on mine. I don't want to use cord and tie it up, I would rather have some kind of sling. I've checked the usual suppliers, but came up empty handed. Has anyone seen such in a thing in their travels?

The loops on the side are for the clips that attach gear (pouches, suspenders, ect.) to an issue web belt. One solution would be to modify an issue ammo pouch or WWII style E-tool (folding shovel) pouch to suite your purpose. The WWII e-tool pouch may work better than a modern one as it is canvas rather than plastic.
