California perspective... Fixed blades are legal here only if they're open carried. Unfortunately, a fixed blade carry on a belt is obtrusive and strange looking, just a fact of the culture here.

In contrast, the right neck knife can be open carried without making you look like Crocodile Dundee. With a neck knife, you could open carry while hiding the knife in plain site, totally legal. Again though, it would have to be the right neck knife. The knife in the original post may work for my idea, but it's hard to tell by pics alone.
