Thanks for the review. But how and why is that a neck knife? Where's the neck sheath, lanyard, etc etc? While I like the antler handle (is that what it is?), to me a more ideal neck knife is flat enough so you can wear it under a T-shirt with little or no print-through. Just my personal preference, of course.

Hard to tell without seeing the sheath, but it kind of reminds me of the patch knife that backwoodsmen wore exposed around their necks in the black powder days.

Maybe modern people want neck knives because they like them?

California perspective... Fixed blades are legal here only if they're open carried. Unfortunately, a fixed blade carry on a belt is obtrusive and strange looking, just a fact of the culture here.
In contrast, the right neck knife can be open carried without making you look like Crocodile Dundee. With a neck knife, you could open carry while hiding the knife in plain site, totally legal. Again though, it would have to be the right neck knife. The knife in the original post may work for my idea, but it's hard to tell by pics alone.

The sheath is kydex with paracord for the lanyard. I generally do not like stuff hanging around my neck, but I tried it out and it is quite comfortable. The knife is small and even though the antler handle is small, it is quite comfortable, both in the hand and wearing in the sheath around my neck. Since I am not trying to conceal it, flatness isn't a concern. In use, I find the antler is probably more comfortable to use than a flat perhaps unfinished handle like some of the ones I have seen for sale. Plus I intend to try the antler for flint knapping. In the sheath of course.

i never did understand why a modern person would want a neck knife unless they were part of a reenactors group.i mean folks in the old days used them because they did not have belts or the clothes that used belts. I was thinking it is small and unobtrusive. And ambidextrous. It would make a good pairing with a machete.

With the people I know, neck knives are valued for concealment, as a backup to belt knives, and for access by either hand. For me, access by either hand. I am also dabbling on adjusting it for wear like a baldric. That is more comfortable to me. But would limit the either hand access.

Does anybody have a link for purchasing this knife or at least for seeing the sheath?

OK..i'll fess up gang--i DO have a neck knife.. after doing the "who would ever want one" post it came to me that i did have one some place around my den..it took some digging around because it's not something i would ever use.i got it at a blanket sale that was going on at the main square in Santa Fe.i was on my way back from dropping off a SUV load of stuff for my Daughter who had moved into Tempe and the grad school at ASU.on the way back to Minnesota i pulled into Santa Fe a bit light in the wallet after several trips to the Ikea store in Tempe and some nites out for dinner.after getting my Wife a turquoise and silver ring i was getting short on pocket money but found that some buck skinners were having a meet behind the square.the best i could do was this neck knife.there was some really impressive gear for sale in the way of hand made knives and muzzle loaders.i have at least ten knives in reach and more in the canoe trip gear hampers but this took some looking around to find,i'll keep it out on my desk for awhile. not a bad little knife but the sheath is machine stitched so i guess you would get harassed about not being in the right "time zone" if you wore it at one of those buckskinner meets. good solid blade, horn handle and the leather sheath is thick. a fun item to bring back from that long drive out West but not something i would take on a canoe trip,or anywhere else.
