I am looking for a telescoping rod in the 12 foot range what is hollow to allow the line to run inside, preferably with a small integrated reel. I want to be able to use a heavy braided line and lures / bait to catch fish up to about ten (10) pounds in weight.

[Edit: Preferably segments would be no longer than 3 feet.]

The idea is to be able to use a dapping / no cast technique along saltwater and freshwater shorelines, including poke-poling bait into rocky crevices and pools. I want to place, drag, and drift bait, lures, and flies without the need for precision casting.

Anybody using such poles or know where to buy them?

I just use a very basic Leeda 2XL 12ft 3pc Beachcaster rod and a Shakespeare SALT FDX Surf Reel for sea shore fishing.

My question would be: Are you going to eat a ten-pound fish in a single day? I would think that going to a smaller pole and going after a manageable size of fish would be the way to go. There are plenty of almost pocket-sized telescopers out there that would be more than adequate.

My first thought, too. But nature does not always send you the fish you order and bigger hungry things could break yur outfit if it is not sized to withstand them.

Shakespear makes a thing called a Wonderpole for crappy fishing.
They are about the right length for a cane when closed and can be from 10 feet up to 20 feet long when extended.

They are on the list as TSP for telescopic pole.
They are a straight fishing pole with out even a real seat or guides except the tip, so not for long distance casting.
(although there are some tricks that let you fly fish and surf cast with them)
I have no idea if it would work for you because they are not really made for heavy fish but it might be worth a look.
If your fishing line is less than the strength of the rod you wont worry about the rod, and these poles have a lot of springiness in them.
Most fishing tackle places should have them.

There is another range of wonder poles made by The American Flag & Banner Company that is a lot heavier.
They are intended to fly flags from or be used as radio antennas.
I suspect they would be too heavy for what you want, and they are still long enough to use as a walking stick when closed.

I did not think to include my fishing background. I have been fishing for the last fifty [50] plus years, with a fair amount of catching thrown in. I have been successful in fresh, salt, and brackish water.

Not sure the following meets all of your requirements, but you might want to consider a Tenkara set up.

This telescoping rod with fixed line and no reel is ideal for certain kinds of environments (e.g., backpack fishing, trout and panfish, small stream).

Online searches will reveal a growing number of retailers as well as instructional videos.

You're welcome! The telescoping function is important to me because I'd like to carry this on bicycle outings and bicycle camping tours as well as while backpacking. Such a rod would be easy to carry in a bug-out bag, too, I suppose.

I'm likely to get one in the next month or two. I'll plan on giving a brief review here once I put it to use.

Sabiki rods gave me this idea. Protects the line and allows a bell weight at the bottom with small lures / hooks. flies above to be pulled up inside the rod tip to protect them as well. But I have not found one long enough or telescoping.
