Another youtube Video i found this time a great one of Ken arima Giving a seminar about preparedness for hurricanes in Hawaii.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2HwSd2LVY8&feature=related

Some of his views are not really my style like storing water in Blue fuel containers and leaving them in the sun to bake so to kill off things since a lot of plastics will leech out stuff into the water but other then that its pretty good

If I lived in Hawaii (particularly Kauai), I would definitely have 3 things in my survival kit: a good air-rifle with tons of ammo (the place is over-run with chickens), a good fish spear (the place is over-run with fish), and a couple good pig-hunting dogs (well, you get the idea). I know there are plenty of dry places in Hawaii, but the places I have regularly visited on Kauai get upwards of 300 inches of rain a year, so I wouldn't worry too much about fuel cans and water. YMMV.

Kauai is not so overrun with people, depending on where you are. There are still lots of places where you can disappear and never be heard from again. The mud and muck of indeterminate depth in the Alakai Swamp, for example.

Another few things Kauai is overrun with are mango trees, passionfruit trees, and papaya trees. Stand in one place too long and you'll get brained with a big fat ripe mango or coconut at certain times of the year.

Light bulbs to withstand surges at home depot? I haven't seen them at home depot. Look for Tsunami Evacuation Oahu Map 1: Waikiki; in the Yellow section of the 2010 Hawaiian Telcom White pages book.
