These are my jute “fire bags”; essentiall they are little possibles bags; but I put firemaking supplies in them. The first one is made with alternating square knots (no special skills required), the other is hand knit. If you run out of tinder – you can burn the bag.

Dunno why but i feel like if i had them or made one id soak them in wax....No idea why

LOL I should do a burn test with a wax dunked bag; man you could start a bonfire with it I bet!

Im sure it would help water proof the material and let it burn longer. You should test a few strands dunk them in wax and see how well they burn compared to undunked same with water proof testing.

Just a side note remember to "soak" them in the melted wax not just dunk

you basically do a bunch of larks heads around a cord that forms the top (braided jute on mine) w/ cord lock if you want, or just tie knot to close like I did. then you do the alternating squares as deep as you want, then you gotta tie both sides together to join.

the other is knitted; so you gotta learn to knit (l learned from videos on Lion Brand Yarn's website), http://learntoknit.lionbrand.com/ very easy. you just knit a big rectangle (or when you get better, "reduce" the stitches at one end so top flaps like and envelope), then fold it over and stitch the sides together w/ hemp. I made the button as a chines button knot; and the back has cris/cross paracord to use as a belt loop.
