I made this in response to a request; but it never really “got off the ground” so to speak due to concern for it getting snagged up in the brush. Legit concern; but thought I’d share the pic anyway! It was setup to be scraped from either end, and the handle is in the middle. The whole notion was if you got your boots on, you have a firesteel!
there is a lot of rubber in the heel of boots like those,how about drilling a hole and putting a steel in.emergency use only with a clever way of removing it.

I think the Firesteel in the Bootlace is Brilliant,& Even more so Brilliant,should you decide to Kick rocks,You could get Rescued for the simple act of Kicking Rocks,Short of a Leather upper,Nylon isn't going to Fair too well though
