I have seen this list in publications in the US as the minimum recommended outdoor suggested FAK items when camping, hiking, or whatever activity you will be doing. The only difference as far as I can tell is the inclusion of splinter forceps. I believe the group who actually came up with the suggested basics from which others continually copy is the Wilderness Medical Associates in Colorado, USA. At least as far as the FAK items are concerned. The remainder looks like what has been referred to the 10 essentials. In the September issue of Backpacker magazine the 10 essentials list was given a makeover. This was previously discussed already on the
forum . I believe the makeover actually expands the list based on a systems type approach rather than just 10 items.
