My group uses them but I'm personally waiting for Spyderco Assist with carbide tip to hit the stores. I saw S&W knife being used to cut seatbelts couple of times but the blade was slipping a bit before it cought the grip and sliced thru material. Slicing was fast and efficient with minimum force required. We were planing to use the glass breaker yesterday during training but car that was supplied didn't had any glass left . I guess NYPD Drug Unit guys should have taken it easy.

Otherwise my team members have no complains besides the standard no lanyard hole or clip available.

Whoa! You live in a tough neighborhood!

I picked up a neat "general" car tool the other day. A set of "fence post pliers" from Crescent. Wire cutters, end nippers, hammer, pointed hammer. Decent padded handle.
You can find it under crescent at www.coopertools.com
Pretty versitle tool.

you know I never thought of fencing pliers as a rescue tool, but it really is a good idea. I have a set in my trcuk for when I got to relatives farms. I am always needing to use the things. Myabe I should invest in a new set!

I have never used them, but your comments tell me I invested my $18 in a wise tool.
They look like they will tackle lots of different tasks and seem to be very sturdy.

Hmmm...wonder why they spent so much ammo punching holes in the sides.

Not to second guess anyone as we don't know what the circumstances were, but I think that I might have been tempted to flatten a tire or two to keep them from getting away. Of course, these tires may have been replaced to move it.

If I had to hazard a guess, it looks more like it may have been either a driveby shooting or a vandal doing target practice, but then what do I know... I'm very happily sitting about 1500 miles away and speculating on something that could have been dramatically different from my suppositions. No matter what, I'm glad I was not inside it when things started getting very noisy inside.

Here, in France, mosquitoes just flatten against windscreens .....

What does it look like ???

I'm waiting for my Pocket-Rescue-Tool PRT I (made by Eickhorn, in Germany)

see this web page :
http://www.eickhorn-solingen.com/englisch/framesets/firefighting/frameset_firefighting.html

I will carry this PRT 1 as EDC, instead of my Emerson mini-CQC7 B (tanto blade) which has a more aggressive look (I couldn't get hold of a normal blade one ....).
I hope the PRT 1 will double as EDC knife and rescue tool.

Alain
