Local Broughty Ferry children (and local residents) in tears at the tragic news.

The two and half foot high roe deer lived here as was considered a major threat to the public safety according to the local Dundee city authorities.

It seems that 'Bambi' was shot dead due to business and commercial reasons and wasn't a threat at all to local residents.

http://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/output/2010/07/28/story15444988t0.shtm

Apparently the business owner has already had his commercial business signage already vandalised with graffiti with the word 'Mur deer er'

Bambi 'lovely red coat'

Folks like that need to be forced to watch with small children Greyfriars Bobby and Ring of Bright Water not forgetting of course Bambi

Oh, man,

I still remember Ring of Bright Water from seeing it about 40 years ago. I still tear up thinking about it.

In my area a bunch of kids at a rural school adopted a orphaned foal a few years ago. They hand raised it through its first year but moved it to a large pen behind the school. Worked out out okay until a couple of weeks into hunting season ...

My folks' house in Northern California is surrounded by several large "Bambis". They destroy my folks' landscaping and generally cause havock all over the yard. The other thing they like to do is be dumb. Oh, also, I'm sure they'll maul you like giant cats if you make the mistake of cornering them.

This one in the article is probably different though. whistle

I think on this one I side with the police and the Kelly's, the owners of the Scotriders school.

In Ontario there are a few farmers raising roe and fallow deer for meat and they say the bucks can get quite dangerous.

It might not seem like it because they are not large but they get to thinking of humans as rival bucks and want to spar with their antlers for control of territory and the does.
This buck was at about the right age.

One of the things about roe bucks is that they tend to approach slowly and try to engage as if you had antlers too.
They feel with their antlers until they have contact and then they thrust just as hard as they can, just like they would with another buck.
If you didn't know what their game is you might not realize they were attacking until you were getting gored.

I tend to second this.

In Germany we occasionally have that kind incident too. Hand raised bucks are especially dangerous as they are used to human beings. People usually find the buck closing in and rubbing against them cute. They regularly change their mind after getting injured. I think that Bambi attitude contributes to a considerable amount to those incidents. People just donīt think that small plant eaters can be really dangerous.
