Your project is interseting in light of the story about the lost 10 year old boy last week in Lincoln NH. Unfortunately he did not survive. He wss playing about 300 yards from his condo which bordered the White Mountains and he got seperated from his brothers. He was found 2 1/2 miles from the condo five days later. An all out search with dogs, SAR crews, etc. found him too late. Apparently he didn't have any survival gear.Unfortunately I don't have the link to the article. Good luck with your project, maybe it will save a life.

Excellent work and job well done Chris, Mom and others involved. This is exactly what is needed in a lot of communities. Such a shame that the parents of the 10 year old did not even consider basic knowledge, or something as simple as a whistle. Makes all of the difference in survival situations.

Its interesting that you brought up the article. The roll out of the whistles is today and that story is still on the local "buzz" index. Its certainly not the type of promotional I want but it should get people thinking.

Not only terrifying for the people around the subject but think about the kid him/her self. The anxiety! Apart from physical support it also provides moral support - esspecially for a kid.
